Speaking on the occasion Dr Choi, the regional Director said it was Jawahar Lal Nehru ,the first Prime Minister who facilitated the setting up of ICA office in N Delhi. Mr Nehru was a visionary and he saw possibility of removal of the ills of mankind through cooperative movement, Dr Choi added.
He further said that it is indeed matter of pride that we have top cooperative leaders of the land with us on this historic moment. Some of the leaders present on the occasion were Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, President of NCUI, Mr Bijender Singh, Chairman of NAFED, Mr Birendra Singh, Chairman of NCCF and Naim Ansari ,Chairman FISHCOFED. Some of top executives of cooperatives included Fishcofed MD Mr B K Mishra, NCCF MD, G M Khan and Anita Manchanda, the chief executive of NCUI.
Speaking on the occasion NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh said that cooperative movement is very strong in India and a close cooperation between ICA and India cooperative movement will go a long way in taking the movement to grass root level.
There was an atmosphere of bonhomie and the Regional Director introduced his staff to the assembled group. Working for last fifty years ICA has indeed covered a lot of ground but as the Dr Choi said it has yet to surmount many challenges.
