Cuban Cooperative Collects one Million Liters of Milk

The Benito Viñales Credit and Services Cooperative, in the central Cuban province of Camaguey, sold the State a million liters of milk for the first time, and it is the seventh unit in the territory to attain these figures.

The president of the cooperative, Roberto Prada, pointed out that stockbreeders maintain a steady increase of more than 100,000 liters per year and, compared to 2009, they have reached a growth of 84,000 liters in 2010.

This cooperative has 263 associates, out of which 163 joined recently after they benefited with lands granted in usufruct by the State.

Until 2002 the cooperative grew sugar cane and after the restructuring of the sugar sector it became an agricultural and livestock unit.

Prada informed that next year they hope to sell the State 1.1 million litters and noted that Manuel Bazadre is the best producer of the cooperative.

According to Reinaldo Martinez from the Ministry of Agriculture, by the end of November, the stockbreeders of the province had commercialized nearly 86, 000 400 litters; which represents 94 % of the total due.
