National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation has elected a new Chairman Jaiprakash R Dandegaonkar in the wake of Dilip Walse Patil joining the Uddhav cabinet. On the occasion, a by-election to the two vacant seats from Tamil Nadu in the board of NFCSF was also held.
Thiru A.S.A. Raajasekhar, President, Tamil Nadu Cooperative Sugar Federation, Chennai and Thiru K.P.S. Sureshkumar, President, the Salem Cooperative Sugar Mills, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu were elected unopposed.
NCUI’s education arm NCCE head Dr V K Dubey was the returning officer to oversee the election process.
On his election as President, Dandegaonkar said, “I am thankful to the Directors of the federation for giving me such a big responsibility to lead the federation. I assure all Directors and members of the federation to provide an effective voice to the Indian cooperative sugar sector”.
“I will work with central and state Governments and other stakeholders to facilitate an effective resolution of various issues that are confronting the cane growers and cooperative sugar millers which include suitable MSP, reducing huge cane arrears, forming suitable modalities for timely payment of FRP, timely market/export assistance, diversification of sugar mills etc”, he said who is also the founder Chairman of Maharashtra based Purna Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana.
He further added that I will also work with the BoDs to push for a customized financial package to enhance the general, financial and commercial efficiency of cooperative sugar mills across India.
A press release sent by NFCSF reads,” As a senior leader of the Cooperative Sugar sector, Dandegaonkar has contributed significantly towards the growth and development of Indian Sugar sector, one of the few heavily controlled industries in India. As a senior Director of NFCSF, he has been advocating for dynamic reforms in this industry.
The outgoing President, Dilip Walse Patil, Minister of Excise and Labour, Government of Maharashtra said, “I welcome Shri Dandegaonkar Ji as the new President of NFCSF. He is one of the prominent cooperative sugar industry leaders and an able administrator. I am sure, under his leadership, the federation will bring in a new sense of dynamism and determination to create a strong and vibrant cooperative sugar industry in all India.
Ketanbhai Patel, Vice-President, NFCSF said, “The sugar industry is currently passing through a difficult phase and NFCSF has a key role in catalysing the next phase of growth of the sector. I am sure, under Dandegaonkar Ji’s leadership, NFCSF will play a crucial role in achieving it”.
NFCSF, MD, Prakash Naiknavare said, “Dandegaonkar Ji is a seasoned leader and administrator. It will be my privilege to work under him to take NFCSF to new heights”, according to the press release.
Later on, Dandegaonkar interacted with the officers and staff of the federation. He praised them for their extra efforts put during the nationwide lockdown to meet various issues of members from across the country. He said that the federation is playing a parental role to the member cooperative sugar mills and urged all to continue working towards the benefits of the members, claims a press release.
