Auctioning of a sugar factory has led A Pune Court issuing summons to Sharad Pawar’s nephew and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
The Pune court has summoned Ajit Pawar along with all the directors on the board of Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank. Readers can recall that MSCB had become a bone of contention between Congress and NCP threatening to snowball into political war.
The present case refers to auctioning of a sugar factory which was major debtor of MSCB to the tune more than Rs 100 crores. When monetary discipline of the bank worsened it forced auctioning of this factory to a private firm and recovered more than Rs 60 crores.
Incidently the sugar factory was also headed by a former MLA from NCP who along with some associates filed a cse in Pune court against the forceful auctioning.
Taking cognizance of the matter ,court has issued summon to Deputy CM ,Chairman of the Bank Manik Patel and a host of Directors on the board of MSCB.
Readers can recall that after a damning report of NABARD on the working of MSCB, its board was sacked and an administrator was appointed. This led to acrimony between Ajit Pawar and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan so much so that senior Pawar had to intervene to cool down the raging tempers on two sides.
MSCB was held as NCP bastion and the action was interpreted as effort to cut NCP influence.
