NLCF enters into election mode

National Labour Cooperative Federation the apex body of labour cooperatives spread around the country is going to elect a new board a couple of months away from now on July 16.

There would first be voting for 262 delegates from across the states who would elect their Board in July. Though the parent body’s financial health is not comfortable, some of the NLCF members are doing good business.  Labour cooperatives are quite strong in the state of Maharashtra, Gujarat and in some of the southern states.

Even the incumbent Chairman Sanjiv Kushalkar who also happens to be Chairman of Maharashtra chapter boasts of thriving business for the state unit in Maharashtra.  Pune-based Kushalkar  and his team have scripted successful stories.

The apex body is marred by internal dissensions also. Insiders say July elections are going to have all the ingredients of a spicy bollywood plot.

Talking to Indian Cooperative NLCF Managing Director R N Pandey said that the name of the Returning Officer would be shortly decided followed by notification of the polling.

Several members are defaulters and they would be asked to pay before a due date so that they are able to cast their votes. Though we have Urangal like co-operative which is pride of cooperatives, there are several which are struggling in want of the government support.

Readers would note that Urangal is based in Kozhikode in Kerala and its constructions from airport to malls to roads dot the skyline of many districts of the state.
