Last time it was Suresh Prabhu and this year it is going to be the Vice-President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu who would deliver 19th Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture on Monday (25th June, 2018) at NCUI Auditorium.
A press release sent by NCUI reads” This year 19th Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture is being organized by NCUI on 25th June, 2018 from 10 AM till 11.30 AM at NCUI premises (3, Siri Institutional Area, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi- 110016) in which Hon’ble Vice-President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest who will deliver this year’s lecture.
The release also says that the function will be attended by Chairman and MDs of national level cooperative federations, state cooperative organizations, international organizations, and other representatives of reputed organizations.

Some of those who delivered the past years lectures were Dr B. Venkatappaih, Shri V.M. Dandekar, Prof. A.M.Khusro, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Dr Verghese Kurien, among others.
It bears recall that the Indian cooperative movement is the largest movement of the world representing 247.97 million members with more than 8.00 lakh cooperative functioning from village to national level through important sectors like credit & banking, fertilizer, sugar, dairy, marketing, consumer, handloom, handicraft, fisheries, tribal, labour and hosing etc.
Shri Vaikunthbhai Mehta was the doyen of the Indian Cooperative Movement who strongly advocated the cooperative ideology throughout his life.
In recognition of his services, NCUI has instituted the Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture which is held every year. NCUI also has a premier cooperative training institute in Pune in the name of this doyen of cooperatives Shri Vaikunthbhai Mehta.
