For once the national apex cooperative body NCUI had its way. Despite Ministry appointing Central Registrar Ashish Bhutani as the Director of Vamnicom Chief Executive N Satyanarayan continues to act as the Director-in charge till a suitable candidate is found.
And Ministry is not resenting. Knowledgeable sources say the Ministry realized its mistake and is keeping silent on the issue which means it is allowing NCUI’s CE to act despite not saying so in clear terms.
Indian Cooperative wrote a piece titled “Vamnicom: Cooperators resent Ministry’s diktat” in which it discussed how in the last 20 years for the first time the Ministry directly appointed the head of Vamnicom without keeping the apex body in the loop.
Reacting to the Ministry’s letter NCUI shot a reply quoting tradition as well as the existence of a separate Board for Vamnicom chaired by NCUI President. The Ministry is yet to reply to the letter, an NCUI source says.
Meanwhile, N Satyanarayan whom NCUI’s President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav appointed as a care-taker Director is still continuing with his job. He had in fact visited Pune – based cooperative institution last weekend and cleared several pending files.
”NCUI is a stake-holder and we cannot allow the premier Institute to suffer for want of a head, said Satyanarayan while talking to Indian Cooperative. Let past mistakes be inquired into but the present activities have to go on”, he added.
”I have entrusted P Chattopadhyay with the job of educating officials of urban cooperative banks about mobile banking. He may be facing an inquiry but he is good at digital matters and we have to exploit his expertise,” said Satyanarayan.
Similarly, Paramjyoti is monitoring two training programmes. We need to send a clear message that if anybody is willing to do something positive the head office is there to support them, underlined Satyanarayan.
Ministry is doing good job by interfering in the VAMNICOM it will help the cooperative to reduce the corruption and will give justice to the current employees who are facing problem for past many years
