All is not well between Sanjib Patjoshi, the Director of Vamnicom and the Chief Executive of NCUI Dr Dinesh. Besides other things, the issue of who is senior also remains a contentious point between them. While Patjoshi is an IPS officer, Dr Dinesh joined NCUI on deputation from a prestigious governmental educational institution but they are fighting that would shame even school boys.
The issue had its genesis in the past when Patjoshi had not joined and Dr Dinesh would fly every week to Pune as he was the in-charge and there was no fulltime Director of Vamnicom. Somebody from the ministry complained that Dinesh misused the fund and asked Patjoshi to check the records to find out the truth which Dr Dinesh contests and says he is not aware of any complaint rather it was Mr Patjoshi who is ever eager to vilify me.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Vamnicom Chief Patjoshi said “there were indeed minor cases of misuse of fund. These are printed bills and in one of which even the name of the liquor consumed is mentioned and there is no way I can hide them, he added. He said there are bills to the tune of Rs 44,000 and it seems Dr Dinesh chose Vamnicom as his weekend jaunts.”
Reacting sharply Dr Dinesh said I have not said anything so far but enough is enough. In my tenure so far I have followed austerities and spent only in cases of necessities. I always stayed in guest house and ate in restaurants only when we had some guest. The bill Patjoshi is displaying so proudly is that of when a foreign visitor was entertained, he added.
Is it not a joke; if you spread the Rs 44000 for my tenure, my cost per visit should not cross my official entitlement; however I will find out the details from the records and get back to you, Dr Dinesh assured Indian Cooperative.
On “weekly jaunt” comment , Dr Dinesh said that since he was the in-charge it was his official duty to go there to discharge his responsibilities periodically as per convenience. It is a matter of record that Vamnicom achieved highest amount of resource generation during that period. In the past the Ex-DG Bhagwati Prasad followed the same practice for long seven years as the in-charge of Vamnicom, Dinesh added.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Dr Dinesh, the Chief Executive of apex body NCUI further said there are several complaints against Patjoshi. He has outsourced many things without seeking approval of the competent authority. He has outsourced vegetable vending kiosk, milk booth, restaurant, a private bank ATM etc and gave it to his favourites without seeking approval from NCCT.
But worst of all, he is not following guidelines and instruction of NCCT and making efforts to snatch Vamnicom from the NCCT fold, Dr Dinesh shared with Indian Cooperative.
Last time when I was there for the Convocation at Pune the Director Mr Patjoshi did not give me space so that I could read out Chairman’s message on the occasion which shocked many staffs and faculties. Our Chairman Dr Chandra Pal could not somehow make it and even his speech could not be read owing to ostrich-size ego of the Vamnicom Director Patjoshi, he concluded.
