The apex body of Cooperatives National Cooperative Union of India is organizing its Annual General Meeting and the 18th Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture on Monday in the NCUI Auditorium in New Delhi.
This Year Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has consented to deliver the memorial lecture. Talking to Indian Cooperative NCUI President Chandra Pal expressed his gratitude and said he agreed to come despite a busy schedule.
Readers will recall that earlier the 18th Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture was inaugurated by Charles Gould, Director General of ICA.
Shri Vaikunthbhai Mehta was the doyen of the Indian Cooperative Movement who strongly advocated the cooperative ideology throughout his life.
In recognition of his services, NCUI has instituted the Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Memorial Lecture which is held every year. NCUI also has a premier cooperative training institute in Pune in the name of this doyen of cooperatives Shri Vaikunthbhai Mehta.
