Stand-off between Ministry and NCUI is taking its toll on employees

The stand off between Ministry and National Cooperative Union has begun to take its toll on the helpless employees and on field projects of NCUI. Agricultural Ministry has stopped funding of NCUI since June,2011 leading to hardship and heartburns among employees of NCUI.

The issue is Lecturer Scam in NCCT. According to sources, Ministry has insisted upon removing Paramjyoti from the helm of affair which NCUI is not agreeing to. Talking to Indiancooperative.com NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh said earlier that Paramjyoti may be removed but not on this issue. His fate would be decided by Board in normal course when he completes his term.

Readers may recall Prime Minister Office (PMO) has asked explanation from Agricultural Ministry under which the NCUI functions. The matter relates to the appointment of 40 lecturers by NCCT for their training units located in different parts of the country. There are allegations of unfair means and money-transfer in the recruitment process. Mr Paramjyoti is at the centre of storm.

Cooperative department in Agriculture Ministry is frustrated with NCUI. According to a top source, they have decided to discontinue the disbursal of fund till NCUI mends its ways. “What we are demanding is not even suspension or dismissal of the accused, we merely want them to remove the accused from his present position”, said an official on condition of anonymity.

Some leaders of NCUI are trying to convert it into an issue of cooperative autonomy while this is plain case of corruption, said the official.

Mr Anildo Majumdar, Joint Secretary (Seed) who was the investigative officer has already submitted his report but given the snail pace of government , nothing has come out of it so far. For us Paramjyoti does not exist and we do not count him as head of NCCT, said Ministry sources.

According to NCUI sources, the issue between the Ministry and NCUI is affecting  200 employees of NCUI Field Projects. They have not received the salary of June 2011. All the Project employees are depending on the salary only.

They have appealed to Union Minister Sharad Pawarj to intervene in the matter and restore all the service benefits to the NCUI Project.Such a kind gesture on the part of Minister will protect the lively hood of 200 families who are directly dependent on NCUI, they said.
