Sanghani on a whirlwind tour; plans meeting PM & FM on 97th CAA

NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, who is on a whirlwind tour of Delhi is preparing to meet both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to impress on them the need to reintroduce the 97th CAA in a new form.

In an informal chat with this correspondent on Tuesday at the NCUI headquarters, Sanghani said that a revision petition in the Supreme Court may not be useful as grounds for rejection of Part IXB of the 97th CAA cannot be overlooked even by the new bench.

The best way is to rectify the shortcomings as pointed out by the court and reintroduce it into the House. With the BJP’s dominance in the House, I do not see any roadblock, he stated. “We are also preparing a formal petition for the same for the govt”, he underlined.

It bears recalling that the apex court upheld the judgement of the Gujarat High Court on the 97th amendment. While the apex court agreed with both Citizen’s Fundamental Right to Form a Co-operative and Article 43B of Directive Principles of State Policy, it agreed with the High Court on striking down Part IXB of the amendment dealing with the need to take states’ ratification.

Sanghani, who belongs to Gujarat from where both PM and Cooperation Minister come, said that both of them are committed to strengthening the cooperative movement in the country. The fact that Amitbhai has been entrusted with the new Cooperation Ministry, underscores the resolve of the PM for the development of the country through cooperatives.

Sanghani has combined several important meetings in this leg of his journey. Being the Vice-Chairman of IFFCO he attended a meeting at IFFCO and revealed that the demand for Nano urea is rising phenomenally in the country. “IFFCO Nano seems to have become a buzz word for farmers”, said Sanghani, stating that a truck flagging off ceremony of the Nano truck to Puducherry took place. Later he went to participate in the MoU signing ceremony of IFFCO with RCF and NFL.

“I have to attend the Nafed Board meeting on Wednesday too”, said Sanghani while disposing of pending files at the NCUI headquarters.

Sanghani’s visit to Delhi often inspires many cooperators in and around Delhi to come to NCUI headquarters to meet him. His Presidential office at the NCUI headquarters, as usual, was again filled up with co-operators on Tuesday. A man with easy access, he never says no to anyone wishing to visit him, said his OSD.
