NCUI President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has written a New Year Message to fellow cooperators in which he lists the achievements of the year gone by and the challenges staring the co-op movement in the face in the country. For the benefit of readers, we reproduce the same verbatim-Editor

Dear friends,
At the outset I would like to wish you all a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2020.
During the year, NCUI continued to play an important role in strengthening the cooperative movement in India. The education and training programs of NCUI continued to grow and expand while benefiting women, youth and weaker sections of the society.
The Cooperative Week and Vaikunth Bhai Mehta Lectures were organised successfully which created cooperative awareness and paved the way for preparing an effective blue-print for strengthening the cooperative movement in India. ICA President. Ariel Guarco’s visit to NCUI provided a good platform for Indian representative of the cooperative movement to share their experiences and views with the ICA President.
An updated version of NCUI’s Statistical Profile was also released. During the year, NCUI was quite active in championing the cause of the cooperative movement at various fora. We also had effective consultations with Union Finance Minister on Problems concerning NCUI and other cooperative organisations.
During the year 2019, the cooperative movement in India saw a rapid growth in various areas of socio-economic activities. The cooperative institutions like AMUL, IFFCO, KRIBHCO came up with impressive results, and expanded their horizons in new areas/places. However, despite impressive growth on all fronts, the cooperatives continue to be neglected in socio-economic policies of the country.
Influencing Government policies so that cooperatives are not deprived of policy support from the Government and due recognition in the planning and budgetary process will be a key challenge for NCUI in the New Year. To improve the economic conditions of the farming community, we have to strengthen PACs which are the basic foundation of the cooperative movement.
2020 will be a year when we will work with more passion and dedication for strengthening the cooperative movement. We will not be deterred by problems and challenges, instead, we will use them as opportunities to grow and march ahead.
Technology upgradation is the key to the success of cooperative organizations in India. I will appeal to you to keep yourself updated with latest cooperative developments and use technology more particularly social media for better communication of achievements, problems and issues of your respective organizations/sectors.
Considering the importance of a Vision Document for future, NCUI came out with a Vision Document 2030 which outlines the future plans and programs of the apex organization.
I would like to extend my sincere regards to the members of NCUI Governing Council for their valuable support and showing the way ahead. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to our member organizations for their whole-hearted cooperation, supporting us to work for the growth of the cooperative movement.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude are due to the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, officials of the Department of Agriculture and for their cooperation and support in the form of grants and otherwise.
I am thankful to the members of the NCUI family for their hard work, dedication and commitment for achieving the objectives of NCUI.
