NCUI’s Noida piece of land saw a flurry of activities on Wednesday as both the President and Vice President of NCUI visited the site to take stock of the construction activities.
It bears recall that the apex body of cooperatives NCUI is planning to come up with a Centre of excellence for co-operative training on a piece of land it took on lease from Noida Authority. The apex co-op body may lose the land if it fails to start construction on the land given the Noida Authority’s tough norms.
NCUI Chairman Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and Vice-President Bijendra Singh visited the site which is being developed as the Centre of Excellence for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Yadav also took stock of the construction work on the occasion. Taken on lease from Noida Authority, readers would recall that this piece of land was on the verge of being claimed back by the Noida Authority in absence of any building activities.
Sharing details with this correspondent on the phone NCUI CEO N Satyanaryan said, “In 2007, the Noida Authority allotted an industrial plot of 3000 sq.mt area at B-81, Sector 80, Noida to NCUI for the project of printing purposes on leasehold basis for a period of 90 years.
“Besides printing press, we are also constructing Skill Development Training Centre and a world class International Conference Hall”, N Satyanarayan added.
“The basement work has mostly been completed and further construction is going on. It is likely to be completed by the next year in December”, he said.
The estimated cost of the project is about Rs 12 crore and it will be a five storey building, said Satyanarayan who was also present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
This center is going to be world class aimed at showcasing India’s achievements so far as the cooperative movement is concerned. “We, after all represent the strongest cooperative movement in the world and we must also have something to be proud of”, said the CE.
This center will be equipped with world class facilities. There would be labs and hostels, among other things.
“It would be cooperators’ own printing press where one can come and ask to get his printing job done first and talk about the rates and charges later, an experience one cannot have in the general market, said NCUI CE N Satyanarayan while extolling the virtues of having a cooperative printing press.
Several senior directors of NCUI, officials and others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, NCUI’s Education Fund Committee had approved a budget of Rs 12 crore for building an International Convention Centre. The approval of the new building in Noida has been a cause for jubilation among the NCUI employees, as some of them shared with this reporter.
