The apex body of cooperatives NCUI is conducting interview today to select the Chief Executive for itself. The idea is to ratify the selected candidate during the Governing Council meeting scheduled later in the month. NCUI is also holding its AGM on 26th September.
Though everyone at the apex body is tight-lipped about the matter Indian Cooperative has learnt that there are five candidates in the fray. These candidates were short-listed after an exhaustive exercise, says the source.
The list of short-listed candidates includes the In-charge CE N Satyanarayan, TRIFED DGM Mr Bhatnagar and two officials from BSNL services. One of the two BSNL officials Mr Shekhawat is presently working with the Cabinet Secretariat while the other Mr Ajay Shankar Singh is posted in Rajasthan.
Those on the interview panel include NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, two vice-presidents G H Amin and Bijender Singh, NCDC MD Mrs Vasudha Mishra and B D Sharma, former CE of NCUI.
If the criterion of 20 years experience in cooperative is followed N Satyanarayan has a clear edge as majority of short-listed candidates though capable have no background in cooperatives, said a source. But one can only keep his fingers crossed, he added hastily.
Readers would recall NCUI begun looking for a suitable candidate for the job soon after the search committee identified the criteria needed in the executive head of the national cooperative body.
The decision to form a search committee was taken in the Governing Council meeting held on April 30th. Sources say the Committee has done its job well within the stipulated time.
One of the important criteria introduced perhaps for the first time is having an experience in working in the cooperative field for not less than 20 years.
