The result of an interview conducted by NCUI to select Chief Executive for the apex organization last month is yet to be made public. Sources say the process has hit a road block due to differences among the selection panel members.
Readers would recall that five candidates had been vetted for the top job in the apex body. But the results have not been declared yet which many feel does not behove an organization like NCUI to inordinately delay the results.
The matter has been pending for more than a month now raising questions of transparency- an attribute critical to the functioning of the apex cooperative body. The future of CE In-Charge N Satyanarayan hangs in balance as he is not able to figure our his next course of action. An indecisive CE is not desirable for NCUI, said several cooperators to Indian Cooperative.
The interview was conducted by a selection panel that included NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, two vice-presidents G H Amin and Bijender Singh, NCDC MD Mrs Vasudha Mishra and B D Sharma, former CE of NCUI.
It has been heard on the grapevine that while majority of selection panel members favored N Satyanarayan as their choice, Bijender Singh, the senior cooperator had Mr Shekhawat a BSNL official on his mind. The Chairman of the panel Chandra Pal Singh has kept his counsel.
Originally belonging to the BSNL cadre, Sekhawat is currently posted in Cabinet Secretariat and his supposed proximity to the centers of power might have been factored in a preference for him said an insider on condition that his name would not be disclosed.
But most of selection panel members including NCDC MD Mrs Vasudha Mishra consider N Satyanarayan as their choice. They count on vast experiences the CE In-charge brings to the table which could be useful for the cooperative movement. Sekhawat, on the other hand, is a cipher so far as cooperative is concerned.
