A training program of around 30 Kendriya Vidyalaya school teachers was organized by NCUI on 24-25th February, 2020 at ACSTI, Shimla. The program was inaugurated by Dr R.P Nainta, Director, ACSTI and GM, HP State Cooperative Bank, informs a press release.
In his inaugural address, Dr R.P Nainta appreciated NCUI’s initiatives in popularizing the cooperative model in schools. He called upon the teachers to learn from cooperative principles and values, and also be positive in their outlook so that students can learn a lot from them.
The teachers were taught about the basic cooperative principles and values, the growth of cooperative movement in India, success stories, the importance of youth participation in cooperatives, ways to form cooperative societies, career opportunities in cooperatives, etc.
The faculty support was provided by NCUI and ACSTI, Shimla. A group exercise at the end of the program was interesting for the participants as they came up with brief reports regarding the innovative areas of formation of cooperatives for the school children, the benefits of cooperative model, ways to popularize the cooperative model, etc
In order to enable the participants to have a practical orientation by seeing the working of cooperative institutions, a study visit was organized to Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank where the participants were briefed about the factors responsible for making the bank a leading cooperative bank in the country.
The two-day program had the participants coming up with useful suggestions like organizing cooperative counselling sessions in Tarunotsava program of KVS schools, organizing debates, essay and quiz competitions for school children on cooperatives, organizing more visits to successful cooperative institutions, etc.
