It was the last Board meeting for the outgoing Governing Council and it witnessed an unprecedented presence with majority of members making it to the event. The GC decided to hold the election on 16th March.
The parting words expressed by the outgoing President Dr Chandra Pal Singh were replete with emotions. He asked fellow colleagues to forget and forgive if he ever hurt anyone by his deeds or words. Whatever happened, happened within the Board and no one carried any ill-will once he left the Board room, added Chandra Pal.
The members one after another expressed their camaraderie ship with the team and vowed to remain united let what come. Though the fever of election is yet to grip the apex body an undercurrent of things to come could be felt when this correspondent reached there.
President’s chamber was filled with visitors with each wanting to have 2-minutes with him. If IFFCO Chairman B S Nakai had a separate chat with him, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh was not far behind in having his 2-minutes with the President.
Insiders point out that the competition rather than cooperation would emerge as the Election Day would draw closer. There are many who nurse ambition of becoming the President and though Chandra Pal looks strong as of now, things cannot be taken for granted, they pointed out.
Though the final name for the election officer is yet to be finalized, one of the names doing the rounds is that of NAFSCOB’s MD Bhima Subramaniyam.
