NCUI to enhance social media presence; recasts media cell

In an exclusive interview NCUI’s Chief Executive Sudhir Mahajan revealed NCUI’s plan to recast itself in a new avatar in the cyber world. “To begin with, we are hiring an agency to upgrade NCUI’s website so that it becomes more interactive with visitors”, said the CE.

The NCUI website which was developed long ago, has never since been modified or upgraded. “There is an urgent need not only to make it look more attractive but also more user-friendly”, said the CE.

The NCUI is seeking suggestions from all quarters on how best to modify the website. “We also plan to rope in an external agency for the purpose. Besides, the upgradation of website, this agency would also be entrusted with the task of making an NCUI App, which the co-op body is likely to launch sooner than later, revealed Mahajan.

Elaborating on the proposed NCUI App, the CE said NCUI aims to encourage the concept of e-haat. Various agencies are making their presentations and we would finalize the one soon, said the CE.

The NCUI App would basically facilitate the meeting of buyers and sellers at its platform. The issue of finding a suitable buyer for farmer’s produce has been a perennial quest. Several agencies including govt’s e-mandi are trying to solve the issue and the NCUI also wishes to contribute its bit. Being the representative body of more than 8 lacs co-ops, it can be a force, felt Mahajan.

“With the growth of digital media not only in the world but also in India, it is necessary that the apex body of co-ops has an impressive presence’, said Sudhir announcing roping in a fresh graduate from JMI Mass Communication to monitor its social media image.

Aditya Gautam has joined from 1st of August to enhance the NCUI presence on social media, added Mahajan.

Besides, the media cell at the apex body is also to be revitalized. Improvements in the presentation of handouts and information sheets and a media-friendly approach in general are being talked over at the apex body, said the CE.
