The jinxed DPC finally cleared the decks for the promotion of Ved Prakash Setia and others last Friday as a new DPC was constituted and it recommended promotion for six officials of the apex cooperative body.
“Yes; it has done its job and even the President has put his signature”, informed CE Satyanarayan to Indian Cooperative. It was done in a transparent manner as a reconstituted Departmental Promotion Committee evaluated each case on merit, he added.
Readers would note that earlier Chandra Pal Singh Yadav the President of NCUI has refused to revive the proceedings of the unfinished agenda of the last DPC. He wanted the process to restart afresh so that no finger is ever pointed out, informed a source.
The new DPC has all the old members and it was presided over by CE N Satyanarayan.
Being the Private Secretary to President, Setia’s promotion had evoked a lot of media interest. Setai, however, argued he joined as Assistant Director 15 years ago and was promoted as Deputy Director in 2005. He got no promotion thereafter.
Earlier, the DPC proceedings had become controversial as several employees had called Indian Cooperative complaining about attempts to back-date the proceedings.
A satisfied CE Satyanarayan said on Tuesday “everything went off well this time; all the members came for the meeting and a judicious decision followed thereafter; President took no time in ratifying the same.” he said.
