NCUI readies to celebrate 60th All India Co-op Week

NCUI is celebrating All India Cooperative week from 14th to 20th November every year. The week long celebrations highlight the achievements of the cooperative sector, and deliberate on important issues confronting the sector so as to chalk an effective road map out.

NCUI will be organising a Press Conference on the eve of the cooperative week on 14th November, 2013 at its campus on August Kranti Road in N Delhi.

NCUI Governing Council meeting held in September, 2013 decided the main theme and the following nomenclature of the Cooperative Week as under :

Main theme : “Cooperatives for Socio Economic Resurgence in Changing Times”.

14.11.2013:         Cooperative Governance, Leadership and Reforms

15.11.2013:         Cooperatives for Inclusive and sustainable Development

16.11.2013:         Cooperative Marketing, Processing and Consumer

17.11.2013:         Panchayati Raj Institutions and Cooperative Interface and Food Security

18.11.2013:         Cooperative Housing for Better Living

19.11.2013:         Cooperative vis- a- vis Taxation and Law

20.11.2013:         Promoting Cooperative Culture and Values

The theme “Cooperatives for Socio-Economic Resurgence in Changing Times”, has been chosen for this year’s Cooperative Week Celebrations. NCUI release read “The successful celebration of International Year of Cooperatives in 2012 has given a new boost to cooperative image in the country. The Cooperative Model is considered important for removing various socio-economic disparities.”

On the occasion of Cooperative Week celebrations, NCUI has been receiving messages from eminent dignitaries like President of India, Union Agriculture Minister, Union Home Minister and others. Various events like inaugural function on 14th November, 2013, seminars/symposiums organised by national level federations, Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Lecture organised by IFFCO, Best Cooperative Journal Award competition organised by NCUI, etc. are the important events to be organised on the occasion of Cooperative Week celebrations.

Policy issues like impact of Bakshi Committee Report on PACs, Constitutional amendment Bill for Cooperatives, future vision of the cooperative sector, Govt.–Cooperative relationship, cooperative autonomy, resource generation for coops, etc would also come up for discussions.

The Press Conference will be followed by the inaugural function of the Cooperative Week.
