National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE)-the training and education arm of apex cooperative body NCUI conducted a Leadership Development Programme for Chairpersons and Directors of women cooperatives recently in the NCUI campus in New Delhi for development of their leadership quality.
More than 51 women participants from six states including UP, Karnataka, Nagaland, Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra have benefited from this programme. The prime objective of the programme was to develop managerial and entrepreneurship skill among the participants so that they can provide good governance and professional management to their cooperative societies.
The participants were also provided with a platform to interact among themselves and discussed challenges and issues before the cooperative societies. The responsibility and functions of the Board of Directors are very important to achieve the targets and providing satisfactory services to the members. Therefore, different topics were incorporated and tailored-made for the women cooperators.
Inaugurating the programme Dr. V.K. Dubey Director, NCCE said the woman Cooperatives are playing important role to increasing the income of weaker sex. They are capable of establishing micro and small enterprise through self help and cooperative system.
Concepts like Cooperative Values, Principles, Cooperative Management, Maintenance of Books of Accounts & Records, Creative Visualization were discussed. A study visit to the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), New Delhi was also arranged for participants.
On the occasion of valediction, N. Satyanarayana, Chief Executive, NCUI said that the knowledge gained by the participants must be utilised in their work place for better prospectus. Dr. G. S. Azad, Consultant, NCUI, Ramesh Kaul, DD, NCCE, Anant Dubey, AD, NCCE were also present on this occasion. Rajeev Sharma, Dy. Director, NCCE coordinated the programme successfully and all participants highly appreciated the programmem and wanted more such programmes in future.
