The educational arm of NCUI, NCCE recently conducted a 5 day Leadership Development Program-Cum-Exposure Visit of Leaders of Savings & Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOS) of Nepal which was attended by 34 chairmen/board of directors and managers.
This program was conducted specifically on the request of the Nepalese co-operators and was designed to give them a glimpse of the Indian cooperative movement – its history, structure, legal aspects, management etc, NCUI’s press release says.
Experts from NCCE as well as those from NCUI in addition to guest faculty members discussed various topics in detail with an enthusiastic audience. At the conclusion of the program, all the participants thanked NCUI for conducting such programs for them.
The participants were taken to NCDC for a study visit. Mrs. Deepa Srivastava, Chief Director, NCDC briefed the delegation on the objectives of the organization referring to the loan mechanism, capacity building and strengthening of cooperative societies.
A few participants said since the cooperative movement in Nepal is still at a nascent stage, a comprehensive program aimed at visiting some grass-roots cooperative societies may be worked out so they may get exposed to the Indian cooperative models.
Nepalese cooperators also expressed their willingness to conduct such programs in Nepal as well in collaboration with NCCE.
The participants visited several historical and tourist attractions in Delhi. The program was ably coordinated by Ms. Sandhya Kapoor, Deputy Director in the NCCE.
