The Leadership Development Training Programme for Chairmen and Directors of dairy cooperatives consisting of 41 participants from the states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha & Rajasthan were conducted by NCCE-education arm of NCUI last week.
Managing the dairy Cooperative societies professionally through effective functioning were emphasized in the training. It also offered participants a platform to interact with their counterparts from all over the states and thus facilitate learning.
Speaking on the occasion N. Satya Narayana, Chief Executive (I/c), NCUI said Dairy Cooperatives in India are working progressively. However, there is a need of professional aspects for effective functioning. He also felt that there is a need of good governance, technological changes, effective communication and involvement of more number of farmers in this sector for growth and development.
Dr. V. K. Dubey, Director, NCCE in his remarks stated that members of dairy cooperatives are playing an important role and emphasized on the need of technological changes in this sector by way of adopting feeding, breeding care and management of milch animals, veterinary and maintenance of dairy farm.
Experts from Government of India and those from different institutions spoke on qualities for effective cooperative leadership, role and responsibilities of board of directors in dairy cooperative societies, etc.
A study visit was undertaken by the participants to Mother Dairy Plant, Patparganj, New Delhi. The senior officials of the plant welcomed the participants and officials of the Plant explained how the milk is processed along with the technical knowhow.
The participants also interacted with Doordarshan (Krishi Darshan Channel). At the end of the programme Dr. A.R. Srinath Deputy Director & Course Coordinator proposed a vote of thanks.
