The training arm of the apex co-op body NCUI, known as NCCE conducted an online refresher course on Cooperative Policy and Development for faculties of Colleges and Universities recently, according to a press release mailed to Indian Cooperative.
The course was attended by around 38 participants of various colleges as well as universities from different states of the country such as Gujarat, Haryana, J&K, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, informs a press release issued by NCUI.
Inaugurating the program, Smt Savitri Singh, Director, NCCE emphasised that the main objective was to sensitize and create awareness about cooperatives and changes in policy and development which lead to the growth and development of the cooperative movement.
Savitri said that the youth and women need to participate in the cooperative sector in a more active manner. For the co-operative movement to be a mass movement it is important that they take part and understand the co-operative processes, she underlined.
She also emphasised the vital role universities need to play for the introduction of cooperatives as a special subject so that students can know the concept of cooperatives.
During the course, subjects related to the role of cooperatives in training and education, sectors like credit, banking, management, fisheries research aspects and international trends in cooperative education were taken up, reiterates the release.
Subjects like new trends in co-operatives for future development and emerging business models within the fold of cooperatives were also discussed. The release claims that the participants not only attended the classes but also raised and discussed the issues threadbare.
“The program was a success and participants were of the view that they got very useful inputs for improving and updating their knowledge of cooperative policy and cooperative development in a systematic manner for effective implementation’, claimed NCCE release.
