NCUI: It is officials Vs co-op leaders

The State Cooperative unions meeting at NCUI on Saturday witnessed a rather unseemly sight between NCCT Secretary Mohan Mishra and Uttrakhand state cooperative Union Chairman Mr Pramod Kumar Singh.

The issue related to construction of a girl’s hostel at ICM Dehradun. Mr Pramod is said to have impressed upon NCUI President that the project is gathering dust due to obstinacy of NCCT. The stone plate declaring the future construction of girls’ hostel at the given site in Dehradun mocks at us, Mr Pramod is said to have said.

He demanded an immediate piece of action from the NCCT Secretary Mr Mohan Mishra in the matter. Dr Chandra Pal Singh also asked Mr Mishra to clear the file sooner than later. Quoting rules and established procedure in the matter Mr Mishra asked for a meeting after the function to thrash out the issue.

This is said to have angered Pramod Singh who indulged into rather uncharitable use of words thereby compromising the grace and élan of the prestigious meeting.

Many officials of NCUI, Indian Cooperative talked to, are also angry with Mr Pramod Singh for his indecent use of words. And several leaders on the contrary hold the opinion that officials are trying to hijack the cooperative movement.

Dr Dinesh feigned ignorance when Indian Cooperative contacted him for his reaction. “I was busy at dais overseeing the function and cannot tell you what happened”, he told this correspondent.

A top ranking official, however confided that cooperative leaders and especially the Chairmen of ICMs are only interested with the renovation/construction of buildings without ever bothering for the main mandate of ICM which is training.

But leaders are equally sore with the delaying tactics of officials who love to red-tape a file without taking any action for eternity. NCUI is presently charged with tension on the issue.
