The campus of the prestigious cooperative institute is heating up as the tenure of its Director Sanjib Patjoshi is coming to an end this June.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Patjoshi said NCUI has no role in it and he is sure of getting extension for another two years. “See I was appointed by the government for three years and as is the norm in government deputations there would not be another extension for two years”, he sounded confident.
Calling NCUI a private body Patjoshi said his deputation was finalized by Cabinet Committee on Appointments (CCA). Besides, Kerala government which is my parent cadre has already given me another term.
Indian Cooperative has learnt that his file for extension is moving in the Ministry which has sought the opinion of NCUI in the matter.
NCUI President is the Chairman of the governing body of VAMNICOM known as NIA committee. But that changed prior to my joining and now Additional Secretary in the Ministry is the chairman of the NIA committee, Patjoshi added underlining the minimal role NCUI has in the extension of his tenure.
Indian Cooperative has gathered that the govt decision to replace NCUI President as the NIA head has not yet been notified and the old tradition of the NCUI President chairing the meeting in the NIA committee continues as before.
NCUI sources say the file from Ministry seeking its opinion is lying with President Chandra Pal Sing Yadav who has yet to take a call on the matter.
Given Patjoshi’s disdain for the apex body, there is an uncertainty on the President’s reaction on the matter, said a source privy to the matter. There is general hostility against Patjoshi because as one enjoying the rank of an Additional Secretary he does not consider the NCUI officials important.
