The Governing Council of National Cooperative Union of India is going to have its meeting today on Thursday amidst several pressing issues such as discussion on the preparations for approval of the ICA budget, the issue of holding AGM and others.
The important absentees in the meeting would be Shivaji Rao Patil, K Sivasadan Nair and GH Amin- who is in the US for a long time now. Jyotindra Mehta , the govt nominee was at Rajkot airport catching direct flight to Delhi when this correspondent called him in morning. “I would be right on time”, he said as the meeting is scheduled in the second half of the day.
Last year the AGM was held in September and a lot of preparations have to go before the mega event as it offers the only chance to effect any change in bye-laws. Fixation of the date of the AGM would put things in motion, said a GC member.
The Audit Report is also likely to be tabled in the AGM. Several on the spot issues such as that of field reporters, of mustering funds for the mega international show scheduled next year and others are likely to come up for discussion.
The meeting of the NCUI officials with the Central Registrar has helped develop a road map for Field Projects. It was followed by a letter from the Ministry in which the NCUI was asked to enhance the salaries of staff drawing from the Cooperative Education Fund. The GC may like to discuss the issue, informs an insider.
