National Cooperative Union of India(NCUI)’s governing council is meeting today on Monday. Board members numbering around 20 would be discussing a host of issues. The recent stand off with Ministry is sure to come up on the agenda as some board members have expressed their displeasure with the NCUI’s handling of NCCT recruitment scam.
The Chief Executive of NCUI Dinesh Mishra said that the agenda is related to audit and account as NCUI is preparing for the AGM scheduled later.
To improve its relation with Ministry, NCUI removed the tainted NCCT Chief Paramjyoti last week. But Ministry has yet not resumed its funding to NCUI. According to sources, other demands of Ministry are also pending with NCUI.
When Indian asked Chief Executive Dinesh Mishra on the resumption of funding from Ministry he sounded optimistic. They have not said “no” to us, said Mr Mishra.
Some of the Governing Council members, on condition of anonymity informed Indiancooperative.com that Governing Council has not been uninformed on the issue of “tension” between Ministry and NCUI. Chief Executive should place before the board whatever has transpired between NCUI and Ministry, they echoed.
We have heard that Ministry has asked for three preconditions-cancellation of recruitment of NCCT Lecturers , removal of the NCCT Chief Mr Paramjyothi and curtailment of the power of Chairman, he added.
We may support the former two but we oppose curtailing Chairman’s power. NCUI is apex cooperative organization and it spearheads the cooperative movement in the country. We can not allow it to lose its pristine position, he confided.
