National Cooperative Union of India and apex body of fishermen cooperatives FISHCOPFED have joined hands to start, for the first time in India, a correspondent diploma course in Fisheries Cooperative Management.
While the job of teaching rests on National Centre for Cooperative Education, Fishcopfed is assigned with the job of preparing the course material. It would be a six-month diploma course aimed at benefitting the Fishery industry, said B K Mishra, MD of Fishcopfed.
The MOU signed between NCUI and FISHCOPFED says that that there will be four subjects in the course and the minimum qualification of the candidate would be High School pass. The selection of candidates would be handled by Fishcopfed.
The cost of the six-month course starting July 2014 has been kept at Rs 2000. We are exploring government schemes and also talking to it for subsidizing the course, informed Mishra to Indian Cooperative.
The course would be imparted in English, Hindi and local language. Talk with Odisha govt is at advance stage for exposing the selected candidates to practical situations also, Mishra said.
The MOU was signed between Dr Dinesh, Chief Executive of NCUI and B K Mishra, Managing Director of FISHCOPFED.
