NCCT secures training fund from NABARD

In a sort of victory for training arm of NCUI, NCCT has secured Rs 1.6 crore from NABARD towards supporting its training programs. To begin with Nabard has selected eight ICMs for strengthening PACs and short-term credit cooperatives. It is paying at the rate of Rs 20 lakh per ICM, informed a jubilant Mohan Mishra, Secretary NCCT.

After taking into cognizance the contribution of the NCCT and its units (RICMs/ICMs) in strengthening the Cooperative Credit System (CCS) training mechanism, NABARD has decided to support selected training programmes of RICMs/ICMs in the modified Scheme of Financial Assistance for Training of Cooperative Banks Personnel’s (SOFTCOB) Policy.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has been extending financial support to different cooperative training Institutions under SOFTCOB out of Cooperative Development Fund (CDF) to facilitate effective training delivery and support their training capacities. Earlier the NCCT and its units were deprived of the scheme.

National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) is a Grantee Organisation of Government of India, Under Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, has been setup with mandate to organise need based training programmes and facilitate the process of Human Resource Development in the Country. The NCCT training network comprises 5 Regional Institute of Cooperative Management and 14 Institute of Cooperative Management located in different parts of the country.

Certification of Training Institution by way of Accreditation was initiated by C-PEC of Banker Institute of Rural Development (BIRD) to ensure desired standards of training. All the RICMs/ICMs were accredited as they were fulfilling the required parameters set by C-PEC i.e. curricular design and Development, Preparation of Course material, Updation of training modules and course material, Feedback from precipitants and Institutions and Faculty expertise & development etc.

As per NABARD Policy SOFTCOB assistance will be available only for C-PEC accredited institutions for conducting C-PEC approved programmes co-ordinated by “CTFC” passed faculty members. As all the RICMs/ICMs are accredited with C-PEC and having a pool of CTFC passed faculty members, the scheme has been extended to the NCCT for the first time.

Initially, 8 RICMs/ICMs namely, RICM Chandigarh, Kalyani, Patna and ICM Bhopal, Dehradun, Guwahati, Lucknow and Pune are selected for Assistance under SOFTCOB Scheme. It is expected that NABARD will also extend the SOFTCOB assistance to the remaining units of the NCCT in the near future.
