National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE) of NCUI has conducted a Leadership Development Programme for Urban Cooperative Credit Sector of India recently at its headquarters in Delhi.
More than 33 participants from six states like Delhi, Rajasthan, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra were benefited with this programme. The prime objective of the programme was to develop Leadership as well as managerial qualities among the participants so that they can provide good governance and professional management to their Banks / cooperative societies, read a press release sent by NCCE.
Elaborating on the success of the programme the release claimed the participants were provided with a platform to interact among themselves and discuss the challenges and issues facing the sector.
The responsibility and functions of the Board of Directors are very important to achieve the targets and providing satisfactory services to the members. Therefore, different subjects were incorporated and tailored this programme as a training capsule for banking sector.
Dr. V.K. Dubey Director, NCCE said the UCBs and Credit Cooperative Societies have potential to compete with the private and nationalised banks. But there is a need for them to improve their services with innovative technology and professional management.
Yogesh Sharma, Director, NAFCUB was also present on this occasion. Various relevant topics were discussed by experts such as Value based management in cooperatives, Qualities and functions of effective leadership, Constitutional amendment for development of cooperatives, Credit appraisal and credit monitoring for cooperative banks, Communication skill for effective leadership, recovery challenges for cooperative credit institutions, Asset liability management & fund management for UCBs, Profitability planning in UCBs – ratios analysis different profitability measurement in banks, KYC & Anti Money Laundering, Challenges before urban cooperative credit movement, Information technology strategies for UCBs / Societies, Conducive environment of effective leadership.
Director Dubey of NCCE said that the knowledge gained by the participants must be utilised in their work place for better prospectus.
Some of those present on the occasion included Arti Bisariya, Member, WCC of NCUI and Chairperson, Project Coordination Committee, NCUI Cooperative Education Field Project, Bhopal and Bhavanjibhai Matoliya, MLA, Director, Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank Gujarat.
