The NCCE- education arm of NCUI conducted a training programme for the Chairmen and Directors of UCBs and Credit Cooperative Societies with a view to developing leadership and managerial skills among them.
Close to fifty participants from eight states such as Kerala, UP, Assam, Manipur, MP, Delhi, Orissa, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The prime objective of the programme was to equip the participants with the ability to provide good governance and professional management to their Banks and cooperative societies.
The participants were also provided with a platform to interact with one another and discuss challenges and issues facing cooperative societies. Different subjects had been incorporated into the programme as a training capsule for the banking sector.
Experts discussed various relevant topics such as value based management in cooperatives, constitutional amendment for development of cooperatives, credit appraisal and credit monitoring for cooperative banks, Communication and leadership skills for effective leadership, recovery challenges for cooperative credit institutions.
Other issues discussed included Asset liability management & fund management for UCBs, Profitability planning in UCBs – ratios analysis different profitability measurement in banks, KYC & Anti money laundering, challenges before urban cooperative credit movement, Information technology strategies for UCBs / Societies.
