NCCE-the training and education arm of apex cooperative federation NCUI conducted a Leadership Development Programme for women cooperators connected with the SC and ST Cooperative Societies, in collaboration with RICM, Bangalore, Karnataka at Athani, Belgaum last week.
The objective of the programme was to uplift the SC and ST women Cooperators by infusing with them the power of knowledge, read a press release sent by NCCE to Indian Cooperative.
More than 55 participants from Athani, Kohalli, Vimochana Cooperative Societies, P.K.V Societies, Marketing Krishi Sewa Sangh attended the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Leeladevi R. Prasad, Ex- Minister, Government of Karnataka, Ex-Member, Rajya Sabha and Chairperson Women Cooperative Committee. In her address, she emphasized that women cooperative societies should be strengthened and uplifted in the rural mass especially in SC / ST in the areas.
Leeladevi also said women are playing important role at the grass root level and they need to participate more and more in the cooperative movement.
Smt Jayashree Chandrakant Nule, President of the society presided the function and stressed need of participation of women for effective functioning of the cooperative societies. Effort to sensitize the women cooperators in the remote area of Athani in Belgaum was made in this programmed.
Some of the issues which came up for discussion included Cooperative Ideology, Philosophy and Cooperative principles & Values; Leadership qualities and functions in cooperative movement and strengthening cooperative movement through women empowerment, among others.
As a part of training programme, participants visited Women Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies for acquainting knowledge about the books of accounts, financial system and marketing aspects of the cooperative societies.
Smt Seela Malikarjun Kasbada, Smt Mahadevi Kanavath Kale, Smt. Meenakshi Telasage Kohalli,Smt. Ningaver Kotha, Sh. Vasant Naik, Director, RICM, Bangalore and Dr. A. R. Srinath, Deputy Director, NCUI, New Delhi were present during the programme. It was coordinated successfully by Smt Bharati Bijapur, claimed the press release.
