NCCE equips UCB & Credit Society leaders for the future

Recognizing the crucial role of leadership in the cooperative banking sector, the National Centre for Cooperative Education (NCCE), the educational wing of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), recently concluded a 3-day Leadership Development Program (LDP) for Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) and Credit Societies.

Held at the National Institute of Rural Banking (NIRB) in Bengaluru from May 29th to 31st, 2024, the program attracted a diverse group of 30 participants from various states.

This intensive program aimed to equip officials from UCBs and credit societies with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the evolving banking landscape. Participants engaged in insightful sessions on various topics, including understanding the legal framework governing UCBs, effective board governance practices, and strategies for adapting to the rapid digitalization and increasing competition in the banking sector.

By equipping participants with a deeper understanding of leadership principles, legal frameworks, and contemporary banking issues, the NCCE’s LDP is expected to empower them to lead their institutions with greater efficiency and resilience. This, in turn, will contribute to the overall growth and stability of the cooperative banking sector in India.

Director of NCCE, highlighted the importance of leadership development in the cooperative sector, stating, “A well-equipped and empowered leadership is essential for UCBs and credit societies to thrive in today’s dynamic financial environment.”

Participants expressed their appreciation for the program, saying, “The LDP provided valuable insights and practical tools that will help me better contribute to the success of my institution.”

Arun M Tallur, Director of NIRB, Yogesh Sharma, Chief Executive of National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks & Credit Societies Ltd. (NAFCUB); Shashidhar Yele, Retired Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), Karnataka & Inderpreet Kaur, Assistant Director (NCCE & IR), National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), were present during the inauguration ceremony.
