Denied a place in the category of the Highest Contributors of Co-op Education Fund, Nafcub has felt worried and gone complaining to the Central Registrar. It is resenting its non-inclusion in the Voter list despite making payment on time.
“Nafcub is one of the highest contributors to the Cooperative Education Fund as it made a payment of Rs 10 lac to NCUI and yet it was denied a place in this list”, complained Uday Joshi, one of the Nafcub Directors who was camping in Delhi along with Satish Marathe, the senior Sahakar Bharati leader.
There are four nominations to the Governing Council from this category and there are already four candidates for the same. They are Dileep Sanaghani from IFFCO, Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav from Kribhco, Bijender Singh from Nafed and Mangal Jit Rai from National Cooperative Dairy Federations of India.
Entry of Nafcub in this list means there would be voting also in this category, which had never been the case in the past. Returning Office, it is learnt, has not yet admitted Nafcub in this list leading to several of the latter’s representatives approaching the Central Registrar to seek, what they call, justice.
Uday Joshi claimed that the Returning Officer had promised to include Nafcub’s name in the list once the Chief Executive informs him in writing about the submission of the payment of Rs 10 lakh.
An enquiry, however by the Indian Cooperative has revealed that the CE has already submitted the letter informing the RO about Nafcub’s payment from its surplus. “He has in fact written more than once. He also advocated the Nafcub case of inclusion in the delegate’s list before the leaders of NCUI”, sources inform.
Unable to find a way out, Nafcub led by Jyotindra Mehta has approached the Central Registrar on the issue. In fact, some of the senior leaders have also met Parshottam Rupala explaining to him the way Nafcub is being kept out, sources confide.
“Nafcub’s game plan is having two representatives on the Board of NCUI with the one from the category of Highest Contributors of Co-op Education Fund and other through the UCBs. This way both Jyotindra Mehta and H K Patil could find a berth on GC ”, say sources.
Both Nafcub President and Mangal Jit Rai from National Cooperative Dairy Federations of India are said to be members of Sahakar Bharati. “We are anyway going to have one of our men at the GC”, said Uday Joshi who is currently the National President of Sahakar Bharati.
NCUI sources say that unnecessary hullabaloo has been created over the issue. Even if Nafcub is given entry it would fail to make it at the voting, they state. The trio of IFFCO, Kribhco and Nafed would decide who would be the fourth one. NCDF has a good track record of payment to the Education Fund and thus it stands a better chance. Nafcub on the contrary claims “Whatever be the case we must be given a fair chance to fight”.
Earlier, the NCUI election was in the news when Amul nominations were rejected on the grounds of defective Resolution. It bears recall the final list of eligible voters came out on Monday evening. Out of 250 voters only 132 are eligible to cast their votes during the election which is scheduled for 23rd November 2020. Nominations for GC members are to begin from November 17, according to the election schedule announced on Thursday.
