The apex cooperative body in the country NCUI and CICTAB jointly organized an International Programme on “Training Techniques for Trainers of Co-operative and Rural Financing Institutions” in Delhi on Monday.
The five day programme would be held from 18 –22 Jan 2016 at NCCE-the education arm of NCUI. About 35 participants of Central Bank, Cooperative and Rural financing institutions of SAARC countries viz Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India are participating in the training programme.
Notable personalities including Balu Aiyer, Regional Director of ICA (A-P), Dr Manoj Nardeo Singh, Assistant Secretary General, AARDO besides the Chief Executive Dr Dinesh and other top officials of NCUI were present on the occasion of the inauguration of the programme.
In his welcome address Dr Dinesh said changing times have thrown new challenges and the best way to confront them is through training. To get a different result- away from the routine you have to act differently, Dinesh said underlinig the basic principle of management.
Dinesh also had a separate session with the participants soon after the inauguration.
AARDO representative Dr Manoj Nardeo Singh said cooperative offers one of the best tools of peoples’ empowerment. The goal of sustainable development so much talked about these days could be achieved only through cooperatives, he added.
Balu Aiyer said the major challenge before cooperative today is lack of interest being displayed by members. Since cooperative is member-driven it becomes a matter of grave concern, he averred. As trainer you have a role cut-out for you; try to make members take interest in cooperatives, Balu exhorted the participants who are already trainers in their own right.
Balu also referred to the growing trend of cooperatives in neighbouring countries shaping up as a regional cooperative body. He mentioned the coming up of the Gulf countries’ cooperatives and Asian cooperatives in this context. He wondered if all the cooperatives of this region could come under the umbrella of SAARC.
V K Dubey, the Head of NCCE proposed a vote of thanks.
