National Cooperative Union of India’s President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has lost from Jhansi parliamentary constituency as Modi wave swept whole of Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh indeed wiped all other parties out with BJP sweeping in 71 seats out of 80.
Mr Yadav polled nearly 3.86 laks of votes and was second in the race leaving behind BSP and Congress candidate. Uma Bharati, the high profile BJP candidate romped home even as charges against her of changing constituencies every time sounded convincing compared to NCUI President who has nurtured the Jhansi constituency with sweat and blood.
But it was Modi’s Tsunami and nothing could be saved, lamented a local supporter of Mr Yadav. Samajwadi Party to which Yadav belonged could save only seats of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family.
Chandra Pal had worked hard and polled well. Had there been no Modi wave, he would have got elected said one of his supporters. He has been announced as a candidate well in advance and he really put in hard labour ever since, he added.
Several cooperative leaders including Nafed Chairman Bijender Singh and Sunil Singh, Biscomaun Chairman had gone to Jhansi to lend their support to the NCUI President.
