Ashok Dabas the man who fought single handed against the mighty NCUI President says the Arbitrator’s award has vindicated his stand. I have been complaining that all is not OK with the election process but nobody was ready to listen to me, he said to Indian Cooperative in the wake of the judgment.
The detailed observations in the 32 page judgment are such that Chandra Pal would not get relief in any court of the country, Dabas said. In case of the very choice of V P Singh as the Returning Officer read the observation of the Arbitrator; there was a clear conflict of interest as anybody who is on your payroll cannot be a neutral man, he said.
“They also fudged with the election records as entries were made much later after the elections. It took them three months to send the manipulated record to the arbitrator”, Dabas stated. It was not also properly sealed, he added.
Batting for Lakhan Lal Sahu who was delisted from the voter list at the last minute Dabas said the justice has been done at last. A mild mannered Sahu resisted the idea of fighting it out even though he was a victim of election-wrongdoings, said Dabas.
I always said accepting cash from members beyond Rs 20 thousand is illegal; now see what the Award says on the matter, have I not been correct? he asked while trying to hide his happiness at the sudden turn of events at the apex body of cooperatives in the country.
He also dismissed that Chandra Pal would get any relief from the section 34 of Arbitration Act which stipulates that the Respondents would get automatic stay should they approach a district court. This time the Award is so comprehensive and detailed that no court could give him relief, he underlined.
