Expressing his shock and dismay at the news of the demise of Shivajirao Girdhar Patil, President of the apex national body NUCI Dr Chandrapal Singh Yadav said “it is not only a loss to the cooperative movement in the country but also a personal loss for me”.
Shivajirao Patil who was on the board of several national level cooperative federations died at a private hospital in Mumbai Saturday morning.
“I knew him for more than 20 years and always found him encouraging the young cooperators; You do not find such senior cooperators like him these days”, lamented Chandrapal.
Chandrapal also recalled that in the last GC meeting held sometime back Mr Patil had come to attend. He looked healthy and cheerful and we never knew this was going to be his last meeting at the NCUI, Yadav sounded nostalgic.

NCUI promptly sent condolence messages with bouquet from the Vamnicom headquarters in Pune. Several leaders have sent their condolence messages for the departed soul.
Shivajirao Patil was also Chairman of the High Powered Committee constituted on cooperatives by the govt of India in 2007-8. The new sprawling building of NCUI was built with his active participation.
Patil was very close to Sharad Pawar the former Union Agriculture Minister. Patil was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2013 for his services to the cooperative movement in Maharashtra.
