A one day seminar on the theme of “campus Cooperative for the Students Department of Business Administration” was organised by the Netaji Subhas Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Kalyani recently at the University of Kalyani.
61 participants including students attended the programme.
Dr I. A. Khan, Course Director & Sr. Faculty Member stressed the need to make the students aware of the concept, object, principle & formation/registration of Cooperatives for the all-round development of the Society in general and the development of the student community in particular.
Several distinguished experts including Prof. Dr. Utpal Biswas and Prof. Mana Sanyal spoke on the occasion underlining the importance of cooperative in the economic development of the country. They said when the employment opportunity in the country was dwindling, students should have the knowledge of cooperatives & the functioning of cooperatives, so that they can form Cooperatives for generating employment opportunities.
The seminar divided into sessions discussed topics such as Acts & Rules governing Cooperatives, board meetings and their proceedings.
Topics such as “Cooperative Development & Management of Business Cooperatives” dwelling on success stories like AMUL, IFFCO, Kribhco, NAFED, NCUI, Consumer Federation, Sugar Federation, Fisheries Federation and Labour Federation also came up for discussion.
Sessions were followed by interactive exercises with students appreciating the efforts of the Institute and that of NCUI, New Delhi for offering through the seminar invaluable insights about the cooperative sector.
