The apex body of cooperatives-NCUI in collaboration with International Cooperative Alliance – Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) is organizing a Webinar on the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives on Saturday 4th July 2020 at 11 AM which will be inaugurated by former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha Member Suresh Prabhu.
Meanwhile, Economic Times has confirmed Indian Cooperative news related to the formation of Cooperative Development Forum, leading IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi to congratulate former Union Minister and Rajya Sabha Member Suresh Prabhu.
Awasthi wrote “Congratulations Sh. @sureshpprabhu Ji, Rajya Sabha member to lead Cooperative Development Forum (CDF) to work towards promoting cooperatives & boost the rural economy. I am Glad to be part of this committee as one of the members.”
Acknowledging MD’s words, Prabhu also tweeted “We all shall work in true cooperative spirit to make our nation grow under leadership of @PMOIndia @narendramodi. Cooperatives have the ability to transform rural economy, benefiting poor and needy. The shortcomings of coops must be removed, strengths of movement consolidated”
It bears recall that the idea was mooted by IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi during a Sahakar Bharati webinar which was reported by Indian Cooperative in detail.
This forum will be chaired by Suresh Prabhu. IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi, NCUI Chairman Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Nafscob Chairman Dileep Sanghani, National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Limited Chairman Mangal Jit Rai, RBI Central Board Director Satish Marathe and Nafcub Chairman Jyotindra Mehta will be its members and Sahakar Bharati National General Secretary Uday Joshi will be its member secretary.
“We want the government to identify the role of cooperatives in the national economy and we expect the Forum to help implement the recommendations of 97th CAA,”said Uday Joshi.
“The forum will be announced on the International Day of Cooperative. We have had several meetings in this regard,” Joshi informed.
It is being said that the forum will also help in fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a USD 5 trillion dollar economy and make India a self-reliant country.
Coming to the webinar, its theme is “Cooperatives for Climate Action”. Climate has been a major concern for the world and I, on behalf of National Cooperative Union of India, urge the Co-operators to come forward and take all possible steps to educate and motivate members to dedicate themselves towards rebuilding the nation and conserving the ecosystem, said Chandra Pal while talking to Indian Cooperative.
NCUI president Chandra Pal Singh Yadav will preside over the event and IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi will deliver the keynote address.
The distinguished Panellists are Satish Marathe, Central Board of Director, Reserve Bank of India, Tomio Shichiri, Country Director & FAO Representative in India and Balu G Iyer, Regional Director, ICA AP.
The event will be hosted by NCUI CEO N Satyanaryana and moderated by Ritesh Dey, Director (International Relations), NCUI.
