A high powered team comprising of NCUI Vice-President Bijender Singh, Chief Executive N Satyanarayan and some others, visited Andaman Nicobar Island to review cooperative activities undertaken by the NCUI Cooperative Education Field Project in the area.On return, they have submitted a note of appreciation.
Delivering the key note address at the training course on bakery items and self made products organised by NCUI Project at Andaman Bijender Singh, Vice President, NCUI appreciated the self made products of self help groups. He lauded the exhibition of SHG products which was organized in a true spirit of cooperation and innovation. Bijender assured all help from NCUI in providing higher levels of training for beautician trainers so as to upgrade their skills.
N Satya Narayana, Chief Executive, NCUI speaking on the occasion praised the rural folk who have come out of their houses to support their family members financially and make themselves independent. He cited the example of Amul
Dr Nagesh Ram, Senior Scientist, head, KVK speaking on the occasion said self help group is the best means for establishing self employment units for income generation. Ravinder Rao, MD, Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank expressed his happiness at the efforts of NCUI in providing skill development training for upliftment of the rural folk. The bank has sanctioned 13-14 lakh loans per SHG.
One day prior to the training course, N. Satya Narayana Chief Executive, NCUI also monitored the activities of NCUI Coop Education Field Project, Andaman and gave necessary directions to the project staff to improve their functioning. The Chief Executive of NCUI also interacted with the farmer members, and saw their farm fields of coconut plantation, vegetable farming, etc. He also had a look at the activities of State Cooperative Union, as NCUI has been releasing funds to State Cooperative Union for strengthening Junior Cooperative Training Centres, and their activities.
The activities of State Cooperative Union, particularly skill development and capacity building of the members of the societies as well as SHGs were found encouraging for further funding.
