G H Amin, the high profile cooperator from Gujarat was in news for all the wrong reasons. A leading daily of the State Gujarat Samachar accused Mr Amin of inappropriate conduct in discharge of his duties as the chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union.
Mr Amin is heading the state cooperative union which failed to utilize Rs 30 lac grant given to it by the state government even while its employees are yet to avail themselves of the benefits of the 5th Pay Commission recommendations, said the news item.
Another charge referred to was a frequent change of luxury cars by Amin. The report said that after every 2-3 years the cooperator changes his mode of transport-even as the union is not in the pink , adds the news paper.
Amin who is currently in the US could not be contacted but his PA Mr Dave told Indian Cooperative that the paper later carried a piece regretting its earlier published story. Indian Cooperative is yet to get a copy of this mail.
Amin is also on the Board of the apex cooperative body NCUI where he is one of the two Vice-Presidents along with Bijender Singh. His younger sibling Narhari Amin who was an established congressman switched his loyalties to BJP just before the parliamentary election.
Amin is now seen as a lone BJP Director on the Board of NCUI, though many hard-boiled BJP members refuse to accept him as one among them.
It also goes to the credit of Amin that despite being in BJP he never burnt his bridges with the powerful duo of Chandra pal and Bijendra. Being on the board of several apex cooperative bodies, he is also Chairman of COBI.
