With an aim to support women-owned Producer Enterprises and FPOs, Agri Co-op Nafed signed an MoU with Deendayal Antodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjeev Chadha, MD, Nafed, Charanjit Singh, JS, MoRD, team FDRVC & other officials. The aim is to work together to build an enterprise base to organize, promote, process, store, and forge effective market linkages of the Producer Enterprises mostly run by women.
It bears recalling that DAY-NRLM is trying to improve the lives of women through mobilizing them into women Self Help Groups (SHG), Village Organizations, and Cluster Level Federations (CLF).
Nafed & DAY NRLM intends to formulate and implement commercially sustainable solutions in PPP formats. They will help the existing producer institutions, as well as the new producer enterprises, turn commercially viable and efficient.
The two aim to help the FPOs in the marketing and trading activities in agricultural commodities. They will help them in sales, purchases, import, export, and distribution of agricultural commodities, horticultural and forest produce, other articles and goods from various sources for pursuing their business activities, read the terms of MoU.
They will also jointly help in extending advisory support to PEs on setting up adequately equipped production and other support infrastructure as required for the smooth functioning of the PES.
The two would undertake diagnostic study & value chain assessment, conceptualizing the business model, delivery framework and process, financial needs and business plans; mobilize financial resources to support the program; and overall coordination, implementation, and management of the program components including skill development, marketing activities, etc.
While DAY-NRLM would bring to the table a dedicated implementation unit staffed by senior executives and supported by competent PE staff, NAFED would assign a dedicated team led by senior staff with need-based professionals regarding procurement & processing of their farm produce.
