Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh was surprised to find a whole lot of people waiting for him at the Patna airport on his return from Delhi. His supporters were falling on each other to greet him on joining the Nafed Board.
Singh, a cooperative veteran has been elected to the Board of the recently concluded Nafed elections. The election of the Nafed went off smoothly but the choice of Chairman was a tough call in which Biscomaun Chairman is reported to have played a crucial role.
Talking to this correspondent he requested a group photogarph along with Ashok Thakur in the NCUI Board room in Delhi Monday on the day of election. It was a gesture aimed at keeping the government nominee in good humour. Readers must be aware that Mr Thakur had put his foot down and the Nafed old guard had tough time hammering out a compromise formula. Sunil played the territorial card (both hail from Bihar) to win Mr Thakur, confided one the newly elected Directors to Indian Cooperative.
Talking to Indian Cooperative later Sunil Singh said there are two Directors on the newly constituted board of the Nafed from Bihar: myself and Vishal Singh. Besides being the Chairman of Biscomaun Sunil Singh is a member of the Kribhco board. He is also a member of the Governing Council of the NCUI, the apex cooperative body of the country.
Talking to Indian Cooperative he hoped that the new board would forget the residual rancour and hatred of elections and put in their best efforts to help the Nafed come out of the woods.
