Lashing government with choicest adjectives the vice-chairman of Nafed Bijender Singh lamented that Congress government made no move so far to bail out the beleaguered cooperative.
But the case against the chief culprit Homi Rajvansh has been closed by the CBI. Rajvansh has been sent to jail earlier but the continued investigation in the matter has led the CBI nowhere so far, an anguished Bijender Singh said in the AGM.
Singh said that there is still Rs 485 crore which Nafed has to take from the govt,
V R Patel, the newly elected Chairman of Nafed presented the report before the AGM. He said that the net profit of agri-cooperative had been Rs 9 crore this year.
Delegates were also wary of deteriorating situation at Nafed. Ajit Singh from West Bengal said that situation was much better a decade ago. But the demise of Ajit Singh has led Nafed downhill, he added. Another delegate Rajender Nagar exhorted the Board to return the money of farmers sooner than later.
B S Shekhawat was elected Director from the Central seat on the eve of the AGM. All the directors including the govt nominee Ashok Thakur were present on the occasion.
