The apex cooperative organization of urban cooperative banks NAFCUB is going to elect its Board in N Delhi today on Thursday. The election which got derailed for more than three years in court cases is finally taking place at NCUI campus.
Several candidates including Mukund Abhyankar of Malegam Committee fame are contesting. The high profile politician H K Patil who was NAFCUB Chairman for a long time quit after joining the Karnataka Ministry paving way for Jagdish Mehta.
As the election is scheduled for February 06 from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m in the Auditorium Building of the NCUI , the counting of Votes would follow immediately after the poll is over. Declaration of result would be made soon after.
Nafcub has asked all the eligible voters to produce at the time of voting, photo identity card issued by the Chief Election Commissioner of India or by their Employer or PAN Card or Driving License or Passport or any other photo evidence which can prove their identity.
The petition which was got the election process entangled in the Allahabad High Court has been finally vacated paving way for the election to the apex body of 1700 Urban Cooperative Banks in India.
Earlier, the list of member institutions was displayed by Returning Officer on January 06, 2014. The last date of receipt of names of delegates was January 15, 2014. The publication of list of delegates was made on January 16.
The nominations were finally scrutinized by by February 04 and the list of candidates after scrutiny were displayed same day at the Notice Board of National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies B 14, A Block Shopping Complex Ring Road Naraina Vihar New Delhi.
The final list of candidates was published on February 05 after the withdrawal of nominations.
