In a bid to overcome their various problems the small mushroom farmers in Thrissur district in Kerala have formed their own cooperative society. The cooperative would enable them to stand on their own feet, they feel.
A training camp was recently held to make farmers familiar with the multiple intricacies of this farming. The idea of a cooperative that came up in the meeting was supported by all.
Sources say, the new initiative would greatly boost and popularise mushroom agriculture in the area.
The cooperative has E V Vinayan ( President), Sathi Chandraguipthan ( Vice-President), E M Shaju ( Secretary), Usha Dharmapalan ( Joint Secretary) and K K Krishnankutty ( Treasurer).
