Shimla: Accepting a longstanding demand of agriculturists in the Himalayan states, the Union Government has substantially increased subsidies under the National Horticulture Technological Mission.
While the subsidy on the replacement and rejuvenation of fruit plants species and root stokes has been increased from Rs 22,5509 per hectare to Rs 60,000, that for the purchase of power operated tillers has been hiked from Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000. The assistance for setting up controlled atmospheric cold storages, on the other hand, has gone up from 30 per cent to 50 per cent.
State horticulture minister Narinder Bragta told mediapersons here today that the subsidy for installation of tubewells and borewells has been hiked by almost eight times, from Rs 12,500 per unit to Rs 1.03 lakh.
Besides this, the remuneration for training programmes in the state as well as outside has also been raised.
