Biscomaun Chaiman Sunil Singh is a very person these days. On the one hand he has to stand in solidarity with his political Godfather former Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, on the other he is busy waging a cooperative fight with the Nitish govt.
Talking to Indian Cooperative while leaving for Ranchi to meet Laloo Yadav on Sunday Mr Singh said that the hearing on the issue of women reservation is scheduled for Monday in the Supreme Court and he has to rush to Delhi for the same.
Readers could recall that a petition file by the Biscomaun Chairman challenging the 50 percent reservation for women in the PACS by the Bihar govt was admitted in the apex court last week.
We have sought the expertise of one of the best constitutional experts Rajiv Dhavan and hopefully the draconian order of the state govt would be quashed, an optimistic Sunil Singh informed Indian Cooperative.
Even Chandra Palji, the President of NCUI had called up and has promised to be with us at the court on Monday, said Mr Singh. The entire cooperative world is anxious. If the Bihar govt has had its way, others may follow the suit, he added.
“You go to your village and talk to members of PACS, they will tell you the true story. They know that if the reservation jinx is not bottled none of them are going to be elected next time”, Singh said.
Earlier, the senior cooperative leaders of the state undertook the task of visiting several areas of the state to seek PACS members opinion on the matter.
